Response to Primetime Taboo Pets

"Monkeys should NOT be kept as pets. They become extremely dangerous."

Capuchin's are SOCIAL animals, and react to being left alone and neglected. They REQUIRE 24/7 care. just like toddlers, if you punish them for negative behaviors - they learn that response Duh.

Capuchin's are high maintenance family members, like i stated prior they require 24 hour 7 day a week care and attention. On the TV special it appeared as thou the woman who was attacked just left her Monk in this elaborate room by it's self - - and she wondered why she was attacked.

I am fortunate enough that my husband and I have our own business, in a profession that allows us to have "pet's" in the office. Chance goes EVERY WHERE I do!! In the car I have a cage with a hammock, he sets next to the window and watches traffic, and is on the look out for dogs all the time!! we call it his "seat", he has to be in his seat before we can go.

He wears diapers all the time, I think it is cleaner for his environment that way. When he needs a diaper change is pretty predictable. When I can, we change the diaper in the sink and use the sprayer to wash well. when we don't have access to a sink, then diaper wipes (and lots of them). Because of the long hair its difficult to achieve "clean", that is why i prefer the mini shower situation. He doesn't like his face wet, and puff's up when his fir is wet.

Taking into consideration that Chance is exposed to human's so much, i find this habits interesting in that he mimic's what he see's. the way he sits, sleeps, handles the spoon and so forth. I get lots of comments from the youtube video's about how "FAT he is that he can't even sit like a capuchin" well if they only knew how well cared for Chance is, and the relationship between nature and nurture and what he is exposed to on a daily basis - they'd know

He is well LOVED and cared for by everyone at home and in the office. He has LOTS of sarogate Aunts! who feed him fruit and interact with him EVERYDAY. He amaze's staff and patient alike in the office.
