After getting back from Oklahoma City for the Thanksgiving Holiday, monday (after doing laundry) Chance and I head to Kansas City to stay with my daughter so we are closer to the vet dentist.
Tuesday morning we head to meet Dr Susan Crowder and Companion Pet Dental. She was very nice, she met us at the door anxious to meet the newest patient. treatment options were discussed and the financial obilgations discussed. (YIKES!!) 2500.00
The initial plan was a root canal because the tooth was dead and in the course of the last blunting, the enamel cracked exposing the pulp of the tooth. infection set in and the tooth died.
I really went back and forth over having the tooth pulled vs the effectivness of a root canal, and the durability especially since Chance LOVES to chew on everthing!!!
After additional x rays of the teeth, and an exam, Dr Crowder came out to discuss what I had decided with my husband. Dr Crowder was pretty confident that she could remove the tooth intact without fragmenting the root, which was my biggest FEAR cause that only means MORE complications. All four caine need to be removed, but at this point I opted for the infected one only.
In this photo the baby tooth is on the left, the permanent one just pulled is on the right. can't believe that came out of his little mouth, but his bites make a whole lot more sense (lol)
From this angle you can see that the top or head of the root is open and the enamel is VERY Fragile.
Thank you Dr Crowder for taking such good care of my baby!! I'm back to getting kisses from him :)
