Such Chaos occurs when I leave town..... you don't know the half of it......
My husband and I had to travel on business out of town via plane, the airlines won't let Chance fly with us unless he is a "service animal" when we had applied for, but not received in time for this trip. Aunt Ann is always willing to baby sit, so we thought things would be more convenient now that Aunt Ann was working for us..... she wouldn't have to take a vacation day to keep him at her house.
Chance love's his routine, and being at the office with the staff is what he looks forward too, as well as them ; ) Upon leaving, I had told the girls to take good care of my baby.
By the time my flight had landed I had 6...... 6 missed calls and voice mail messages..... so as we are taxing to the terminal, I started to listen...... wasn't pretty. I was crying as I was getting off the plane asking "why was 911 called!!!" & "Dam it" has heard pretty loudly out of my mouth as tears flowed down my face. Rey was trying to understand what was going on and why i was so upset.......
One of my wonderful staff Maria, whom spoils Chance and he returns the favor, was watching the clock for when I usually do diaper changes... She was taking this responsibility VERY SERIOUSLY... Ann finished what she was working on and proceeded to take Chance to the kitchen to change the diaper. Shortly there after, Maria followed in the help and that ended up being a distraction to Chance. He wanted to PLAY.... screw the clean diaper. Ann was trying to get him to hold still long enough to secure the tail in the diaper and Chance nipped at her, she was startled and let out a scream, which drew back more staff in to the kitchen to "help" which made Chance all the more determined to PLAY and fight Ann's attempts to finish getting dressed. So he let her have a good bite on her thumb. After a blood curling scream, and crying one of the therapist in the office called 911..... Everyone is yelling at her telling her to "hang up", "don't call 911"... to late she hung up and 911 called back...... it was to late, Alex had uttered the words "monkey bite"........
Police officers came in with guns almost drawn, Jill describes them as chest out like they were here to get a Gorilla, she says.... calm down guys this is what your here for and shows them a picture of Chance. One officer looks at the other and says I got this. Animal control shows up shortly there after. Sylvia came down stairs with all the co motion and and finished changing Chance. Alex and the officers had the rest of the staff riled up so Ann called her BF Doug to come in as a "level headed person" to talk to the cops. Sylvia, Doug and Officer Novotny were in the conference room taking statements when Chance ( now dressed) climbed up on Office Nototny and started to love on her with coo's and kisses. Ann and staff were freaking out about the police being there and the risk that Chance would be taken away......
At the end of the event, no one had taken Ann to the doctor..... she had to drive herself ?!? I was pissed, you all had to do something..... but no one did the right thing..... Ann worked the rest of the day, then went to prompt care to have it looked at. We (me via cell phone) were concerned about the condition of the nail and the trauma to the nail bed (Ann just started to be able to grow her nails out..... sorry sis) after some discussion I recommeded that she have the doctor remove the remaining nail, so that it wouldn't snag on anything and cause more pain and trauma later.
In the mean time, trying to make alternate arrangements from afar. Talked Sylvia into taking him home over night until Adam was finished with his class on Friday and he would come home from college and keep him for the weekend. The staff worked together wonderfully to care for Chance on Friday (the day after) without any further incident (Amen).
Monday brought the Animal Control Officer back to our office for follow up requirements... isolation for 10 days for both Ann and Chance...... followed by a Vet Check to clear Chance on the 10th day.
